Head Coach Kevin Duffie, a native of Grand Falls, N.B. will head into his third season as the head coach of the Axemen. Prior to his appointment as head coach, Kevin has spent six seasons as an assistant coach at Acadia under former head coach Stephen Baur. Duffie joined the Acadia staff one year after winning a CIS Silver Medal with the basketball Axemen in 2008 as a student-athlete.
This past season, Duffie led the Axement to a third place finish and a quarterfinal win over the Cape Breton Capers at the AUS Championship tournament at the Halifax Scotiabank Center. The Axemen eventually fell short in a loss to UPEI in the semi-finals.
Duffie has been instrumental in helping Acadia achieve a 2011-12 AUS championship; five straight AUS playoff appearances; a first place finish this past season and earning a berth to the Final 8 three times in the last four years.
In December of 2013, Kevin was hired as Basketball Nova Scotia's Technical Director, leaving his position as program coordinator with the Acadia S.M.I.L.E. program.
Duffie has spent his summers coaching provincial basketball teams, winning a Silver Medal with Team Nova Scotia during the summer of 2011.He has represented Nova Scotia as a coach in four National Championships and in one Canada Games.
With a strong understanding of the values and traditions that are current at Acadia, Kevin is a great fit in his first season as head coach.
