Lake and Ernst named Acadia athletes of the week
Jenna Lake of the women’s volleyball team and Ethan Ernst of the men’s hockey team have been named the Acadia Athletes of the Week for the period ending February 9.
Lake, a fourth-year psychology student from Conception Bay South, NL, played a key role in the Axewomen’s weekend sweep of Moncton on the road. On Saturday, she delivered a standout performance with 12 kills and eight digs, posting an impressive .407 hitting percentage in a 3-0 victory. On Friday, she recorded 12 kills, a block, and a block assist in a 3-1 win, helping Acadia strengthen its position in AUS competition.
Ernst, a second-year kinesiology student from Weyburn, Sask., was instrumental in the Axemen’s back-to-back wins over Saint Mary’s and UPEI. On Friday, he scored the game-winning goal in a 4-1 home victory against Saint Mary’s. He followed up with another clutch moment on Saturday, securing the shootout winner in a 3-2 road victory over UPEI in Charlottetown.
Both Lake and Ernst stepped up in crucial moments, leading their teams to important wins as they continue their respective AUS seasons.
