Regault and Delorey named Acadia athletes of the week
Ryan Regault (men’s basketball) and Sarah Delorey (women’s basketball) have been named Acadia athletes of the week for the period ending Feb. 22 following standout performances at the AUS championship.
Regault, a second-year law and society student from Scarborough, Ont., was named AUS Championship MVP after leading the Axemen to an 84-74 victory over UPEI to capture the program’s AUS-leading 18th conference title. The championship marked Acadia’s first appearance in the championship weekend since 2018 and first title since 2012. Regault scored 22 points and added three assists, four rebounds and three steals in the final. Over three games, he averaged 18.3 points, seven rebounds and 3.7 assists, while shooting 37.8 per cent from the field and 73.7 per cent from the free-throw line. The Axemen will represent the AUS at the U SPORTS men’s basketball championship in March, hosted by the University of Calgary.
Delorey, a fifth-year independent studies student from Elmsdale, N.S., recorded 14 points and 16 rebounds in the Axewomen’s 69-63 semifinal loss to UPEI. She also added two assists and three blocks, leading all players on the glass with a strong defensive performance.
