John and Savoie named Acadia athletes of the week

Aaron John (men’s soccer) and Olivia Savoie (women’s rugby) have been named Acadia athletes of the week for the period ending Sept. 28 following strong performances in AUS action.

John, a first-year psychology student from Black Point, N.S., delivered a strong defensive performance and scored an important goal in Acadia’s 3-2 win over UPEI, the Axemen’s lone match of the week.

Savoie, a fourth-year kinesiology student from Garnett Settlement, N.S., scored two tries in Friday’s victory over Saint Mary’s, securing a playoff spot for the Axewomen. She also contributed a strong defensive effort in the win.

The Acadia athletes of the week are presented by McDonald’s.
