Acadia secures commitment from Riverview receiver Austin Devereux

The Axemen football program has added size and athleticism to its receiving corps with the commitment of Austin Devereux, a 6'6, 195-pound receiver from Riverview, N.B.

Devereux will join the Axemen as a first-year student-athlete in fall 2026 after graduating from Riverview High School. He plans to study business at Acadia.

A product of the Riverview Royals program, Devereux competed at the AAA high school level in New Brunswick and was part of several successful seasons. In 2025, the Royals posted an 8–1 record in SSNB North East play and captured the AAA high school championship. Devereux earned SSNB Eastern All-Star honours following the season.

The year prior, Riverview reached the NBIAA AAA finals with a 6–3 record, continuing the program’s strong run at the provincial level. Devereux also gained experience earlier in his career with the Royals’ junior varsity program, competing in the Greater Moncton Football Association during the 2022 and 2023 seasons.

Statistically, Devereux made his presence felt as a senior, finishing the season with eight touchdowns, approximately 500 receiving yards, and 30 receptions. His size and reach made him a consistent target in the passing game and a difficult matchup for opposing secondaries.

Devereux said Acadia’s balance of athletics and academics played a major role in his decision.

“Everyone I spoke with talked about Acadia having a highly respected athletics program and a long history of academic success,” Devereux said. “When I visited the campus and toured the athletic facilities, I could really see myself there. It felt like the right fit for me. I’m grateful for the opportunity to represent Acadia and become an Axeman.”

A multi-sport athlete, Devereux has played football since the age of 10 and also competes in basketball. He credits those experiences with helping shape his competitiveness and appreciation for team culture.

Devereux will arrive in Wolfville bringing size, athletic versatility, and championship experience as the Axemen continue to build depth and playmaking ability on offence.
