Axemen add Winnipeg receiver Austin Taylor to football program
The Acadia Axemen football program has added Winnipeg native Austin Taylor, who will join the team for the upcoming Atlantic University Sport season.
Taylor is a 6'3, 195-pound receiver who comes to Acadia from Vincent Massey Collegiate, where he competed with the Trojans and developed into a versatile offensive weapon. Known for his physical style of play, Taylor has experience lining up at multiple positions across the offence, including wide receiver, slot and flex roles.
During his time with Vincent Massey, Taylor contributed to several successful seasons with the Trojans. In 2023, the program posted an undefeated 8–0 record and captured a championship. He returned to the lineup in later seasons, continuing to provide production and flexibility as the offence evolved. In his most recent high school campaign, Taylor recorded six touchdowns and more than 275 receiving yards.
Taylor also represented Team Manitoba at the U18 level in 2025, where he served as a starting right wideout while providing depth across other positions. His experience at the provincial level added to his understanding of high-level competition and team preparation.
A multi-sport athlete, Taylor has competed at the varsity level in volleyball and basketball and currently serves as an assistant captain with the Winnipeg Wild AAA hockey program. He credits those experiences with helping shape his work ethic, leadership skills and competitive approach.
Taylor said his visit to Wolfville played a major role in his decision to commit.
“After my visit to Acadia, it was very clear that deciding to play for the Axemen would be the right choice for me,” Taylor said. “The great sense of family and community at Acadia and in Wolfville really stood out. I’m looking forward to continuing my football journey and competing at the next level.”
He also expressed gratitude to his coaches at Vincent Massey Collegiate and Team Manitoba, along with his family, for their support throughout his development.
Taylor will study business at Acadia and arrives with an eagerness to grow as a student-athlete while contributing to the Axemen offence.
