Bernard commits to Axemen football program
The Acadia Axemen football program has added size, versatility and proven production with the commitment of Colin Bernard, a tight end and H-back from Ottawa, Ont.
Bernard, who stands 6'3 and 225 pounds, arrives in Wolfville after competing at both the university and elite youth levels. He will enroll in kinesiology at Acadia as he begins his Axemen career.
Most recently, Bernard spent the 2025 season with the McGill Redbirds in the RSEQ, gaining experience at the U SPORTS level. Prior to that, he developed into one of the top offensive weapons at St. Francis Xavier Catholic High School in Ottawa.
During his senior high school career, Bernard produced strong numbers as a receiver. In 2024, he recorded 23 receptions for 545 yards and seven touchdowns in seven games. The previous season, he added 34 receptions for more than 400 yards and four touchdowns. He was named Male Senior Athlete of the Year at St. Francis Xavier in both 2023–24 and 2024–25.
Bernard’s impact extended beyond football. A four-sport athlete in high school, he also competed in hockey, lacrosse and golf. In lacrosse, he was a three-time team MVP and led his league with 43 goals in eight games during the 2024 season.
At the provincial level, Bernard represented Team Ontario U16, helping the squad earn a silver medal at the Eastern Challenge. He also served as team captain with the Cornwall Wildcats of the OSFL in 2025, where he was named offensive player of the week twice.
“I am beyond blessed to have the opportunity to represent Acadia and the Town of Wolfville,” Bernard said.
