Axemen add championship receiver Darnell Green for 2026
Green joins the Axemen after helping St. Roch capture ROPSSAA and OFSAA titles.
The Acadia Axemen football program has added speed and championship experience to its receiving corps with the commitment of Darnell Green, a 5-foot-9, 160-pound wide receiver from Brampton, Ont.
Green will join the Axemen for the 2026 season after graduating from St. Roch Catholic Secondary School and plans to study law and society at Acadia.
Green competed with the St. Roch Ravens in the Region of Peel Secondary School Athletic Association (ROPSSAA), where he helped the program capture league and provincial success. In 2024, the Ravens won the ROPSSAA championship before going on to claim the OFSAA football title. That same year, they also secured the Metro Bowl championship.
Green made his impact felt on the provincial stage. In the OFSAA championship game, he recorded two touchdowns and two receptions for more than 150 yards, delivering one of his strongest performances of the season.
During his Grade 11 campaign, Green compiled more than 500 all-purpose yards and five touchdowns, establishing himself as a versatile offensive threat.
Beyond football, Green also competed in soccer at St. Roch and was part of a team that reached the OFSAA stage in 2025. He previously played two seasons with the Peel Panthers program, continuing his development at the community level.
Born in Jamaica, Green moved to Canada at the age of four. He credits his journey and years of preparation for shaping his commitment to the next level.
“Committing to Acadia football means all the hard work I’ve put in over the years is finally paying off,” Green said. “It’s a chance to be part of a strong program with great coaches and teammates who push each other to get better every day. It’s not just about playing at the next level, but also pursuing my education and growing as a person, representing my school and family with pride.”
