Axemen add versatile linebacker Jack Peterson to defensive unit
Defensive standout recorded 164 tackles and 42 tackles for loss in high school career
The Acadia Axemen football program has added size and production to its defensive unit with the commitment of London, Ont., native Jack Peterson for the upcoming Atlantic University Sport season.
Peterson, a 6'3, 240-pound linebacker and defensive end, joins the Axemen after a decorated high school career with St. Thomas Aquinas in London. He plans to study history at Acadia.
A versatile defender, Peterson made an impact across multiple seasons with St. Thomas Aquinas, where he served as a two-time team captain and was named team MVP. He was also recognized as the team’s most inspirational player and earned city all-star honours, along with being a finalist for the Gooder Award as the city’s most valuable player.
Peterson’s production on the field matched his leadership credentials. During the 2025 season, he led his team in tackles and was among the league leaders in tackles for loss, finishing with 21. He also recorded a seven-tackle-for-loss performance in a single game.
Over his high school career, Peterson compiled 164 tackles, 42 tackles for loss and 9.5 sacks. He also forced five fumbles and added two interceptions, showcasing his ability to impact the game in multiple ways.
Peterson said his commitment to Acadia reflects both his work ethic and his belief in the program.
“To commit to Acadia proves to me that hard work pays off and betting on yourself will always work out,” he said. “I’m excited to get to Wolfville and can’t wait to leave a legacy at this program.”
