Chimienti brings size and versatility to Acadia defensive line
Six-foot-three lineman adds depth on defence and special teams
The Acadia Axemen football program has added size and versatility to its defensive front with the commitment of Vito Chimienti of Toronto for the 2026 season.
The 6'3, 235-pound defensive lineman and long snapper joins Acadia following a strong high school career that included multiple championship seasons.
Chimienti played his senior varsity seasons with Football North in the Elite Competitive Prep (ECP) league. The program captured back-to-back championships during his time on the roster, including a third consecutive title in his senior year.
He first joined the varsity lineup in 2024, when Football North posted a 7-4 record and won its second straight championship. The following season, the team finished 8-3 and secured another league title.
Before reaching the varsity level, Chimienti competed with the Football North junior varsity program from 2022 to 2023, where the team finished with an 8-2 record. Earlier in his development, he also played at Chaminade College School in Toronto.
Chimienti said committing to Acadia represents the opportunity to continue pursuing his goals at a higher level.
“Committing to Acadia means having the opportunity to accomplish greatness at a higher level,” he said.
The defensive lineman also brings impressive athletic measurables to the program. His testing numbers include a 30-inch vertical jump, a 9-foot-7 broad jump, and a 4.84-second 40-yard dash. In the weight room, he has recorded a 290-pound bench press, a 375-pound squat, and a 245-pound clean.
On the field, Chimienti has shown the ability to impact games in key moments. In one senior game, he recorded three sacks and three quarterback pressures in just two quarters while delivering perfect long snaps on special teams. In another championship contest, he pressured the opposing quarterback into throwing the interception that sealed the victory.
Chimienti will study business administration when he arrives at Acadia.
