Veteran offensive lineman Brandon Woodward commits to Axemen football
Former Kamloops Bronco adds junior football experience to Acadia
The Acadia Axemen football program has added experience and durability to its offensive line with the commitment of Winnipeg native Brandon Woodward for the upcoming Atlantic University Sport season.
Woodward, a 6'2, 305-pound offensive lineman, joins the Axemen after competing at both the high school and junior football levels in Western Canada. He plans to study business at Acadia.
Woodward began his senior football career with the Elmwood Giants in the Winnipeg High School Football League. During the 2023 season, he helped lead the Giants to a conference championship while earning high school all-star honours. He was also nominated for the Harry Hood Award, becoming the first player in program history to receive the recognition.
Following high school, Woodward joined the Kamloops Broncos of the British Columbia Football Conference, one of Canada's premier junior football leagues. Over two seasons with the Broncos, he established himself as a reliable presence along the offensive line.
His contributions were recognized with the team's Offensive Rookie of the Year award in 2024. One year later, he was named the Broncos' Offensive Lineman of the Year, highlighting his continued development and impact in the trenches.
Perhaps most impressively, Woodward has built a reputation for consistency and toughness. Since beginning his senior football career in 2023, he has not missed a single offensive snap, maintaining what he describes as a three-year ironman streak.
Woodward said the opportunity to join Acadia represents an important step in both his academic and athletic journey.
“To commit to Acadia is such an achievement,” he said. “I’m proud to be a part of a program that I know I can trust my future with.”
With experience against strong competition in both Manitoba and British Columbia, Woodward arrives in Wolfville with a proven track record of durability, commitment and steady improvement.
