WOLFVILLE, N.S. - Acadia University men's basketball head coach Michael Leslie, is pleased to announce that Truro, N.S. native Erik Hayden will join the Axemen this coming fall.
"We are pleased to have Erik commit to Acadia. He is a dynamic player who can score the ball in a variety of ways. He is a committed student athlete and has a high basketball IQ," said Leslie.
A 6'3" guard for the Cobequid Educational Centre Cougars, Hayden and the Cougars hosted the Nova Scotia High School D1 Provincial Championship this past season, after winning their Regional Finals.
In 2020, Hayden was the winner of the Most Outstanding Player Award with the Cougars and the 2021 Citizenship Clean Living Award.
"Acadia is in a small community that reminds me of my hometown of Truro, and the program that I want to study there is a good fit for me. Since the basketball team is in a rebuilding year, I felt like it would be a great opportunity to be involved in that process – to improve my skills while also playing a part in Acadia's basketball program," noted Hayden when questioned why he chose Acadia.
Hayden is enrolled in the Bachelor of Kinesiology degree program at Acadia University.
