Scoring guard Aaron Simmons commits to Axemen basketball
The Acadia Axemen are adding a proven scorer and experienced leader to their backcourt with the commitment of Aaron Simmons, a 6'1 guard from Nassau, Bahamas.
Simmons joins Acadia after two strong seasons at Holland College in the Atlantic Collegiate Athletic Association (ACAA), where he consistently ranked among the league’s top offensive threats. In 2024–25, Simmons averaged 19.1 points per game while shooting 49.6 per cent from the field and 38.3 per cent from three-point range, along with 4.3 rebounds per game.
The year prior, he posted 15.9 points and 5.0 rebounds per game while shooting 49.3 per cent from the field. His standout performances earned him ACAA All-Star honours, a CCAA Player of the Week selection, and recognition as Holland College’s Defensive Player of the Year.
Head coach Michael Leslie said Simmons brings the right combination of skill, maturity and competitiveness.
“Aaron is a highly skilled and experienced scoring guard, coming to us from Holland College where he recorded impressive scoring numbers in several categories,” said Leslie. “He is highly motivated, mature, and a natural leader. From the start of his recruitment visit, Aaron demonstrated all the qualities we were looking for to add depth to our guard positions. He is truly developing into an elite offensive player, and we are very pleased to add his experience and talent to our roster for the upcoming season.”
Simmons, who will study business administration at Acadia, said he is excited to join a program that believes in him.
“It means a lot to be in such a positive environment, with a good coaching staff who believes in me,” Simmons said.
Simmons will begin his U SPORTS career this fall with the Axemen in the AUS.
