WOLFVILLE, N.S. — Acadia controlled all four quarters and defeated Memorial 61–39 on Friday afternoon at Stu Aberdeen Court. Ryan Regault led the Axemen with 22 points, hitting five three-pointers. Acadia moved to 2–1 in AUS play.
Acadia led 19–16 after the first quarter and pushed the margin to 32–22 at halftime. The defence tightened after the break, holding Memorial to six points in both the second and third quarters. The Axemen outscored the visitors 15–6 in the third to put the game out of reach.
Regault shot 6-for-13 from the field, including 5-for-9 from three, and added four assists. Gabe Davignon had nine points and eight rebounds. Aaron Simmons contributed eight points, five rebounds and two steals, while Robbie Grant posted seven points, six rebounds and four assists. Samou Brayan Kone added five points and seven rebounds off the bench.
Acadia finished with a 45–41 edge on the glass and 17 assists. The Axemen held Memorial to 18.1 per cent shooting from the floor and 2-for-23 from three. Andrew Robinson led Memorial with 11 points.
