Regault’s 23 leads Axemen past Huskies on the road
Acadia earned an 82-67 win over Saint Mary's on Saturday night at the Homburg Centre, using a dominant third quarter to pull away. The Axemen outscored the Huskies 29–16 in the frame and carried that momentum through the second half. Acadia now turns its attention to its final game of 2025 on Saturday, Nov. 29 at 8 p.m.
Ryan Regault led all scorers with 23 points, hitting five 3-pointers and adding six assists. Kyle Munro scored 15 points, made three shots from beyond the arc, and contributed seven assists and four steals. Robbie Grant posted 12 points and eight rebounds, while Briawne Wilson added 11 points and went 6-for-8 from the line.
Acadia opened the game with a 7–0 run, capped by a layup from Donovan Reid. Saint Mary's responded with a 3-pointer from Jayrell Diggs, and the Huskies finished the first half strong. A late surge, highlighted by a 3-pointer from Micah Stewart, gave Saint Mary's a 19–15 lead at the end of the quarter.
The Huskies extended their lead to eight points in the second quarter before Acadia climbed back. Regault hit a 3-pointer to tie the game at 23, but Saint Mary's countered with another run. Dawson John connected from long range with under a minute left, pushing the Huskies ahead again. Munro scored at the buzzer to close the gap, and Saint Mary's held a 34–29 halftime lead.
Acadia took control in the third quarter. Regault tied the game at 36 with a three, and Grant's inside scoring sparked an extended run that put Acadia up 47–36. Saint Mary's struggled from the field, converting only three of 15 attempts, while Acadia continued to score efficiently. Wilson's late 3-pointer capped a 29–16 quarter and handed the Axemen a 58–50 lead entering the fourth.
Regault kept the pressure on in the final frame, hitting two early threes to widen the gap. Wilson added four free throws, and Munro connected on a 3-pointer and a layup to stretch the lead to 20 points with under four minutes remaining. Saint Mary's chipped away late, but Acadia's balanced scoring and defensive stops secured the victory.
Diggs led the Huskies with 17 points, including four 3-pointers. Devawn White recorded 16 points and 11 rebounds, while Ben Dale added eight points, four rebounds and five assists. Jasha'jaun Downey contributed six points and three steals.
