MacDonald earns spot on AUS all-rookie team
The 2024-25 Atlantic University Sport (AUS) Men’s Hockey Awards highlighted the top talent in the conference on Monday, and Acadia forward Cam MacDonald was recognized among the best young players in the league. MacDonald earned a well-deserved spot on the AUS All-Rookie Team, a testament to his strong debut season with the Axemen.
MacDonald’s Breakout Season
MacDonald made an immediate impact for Acadia, showcasing his scoring ability and playmaking skills throughout the season. He recorded 13 goals and 14 assists for 27 points in 29 games, finishing as one of the top rookie scorers in the league. His ability to read the game, generate offensive opportunities, and contribute on both ends of the ice made him a standout rookie in the conference. His performance helped solidify Acadia’s attack, and his energy on the ice provided a spark for the team throughout the year.
Semifinal Bound
The Axemen season continues this week as they head to Fredericton for their AUS semifinal series against the UNB REDS. Games 1 and 2 are Thursday and Friday before the Axemen return home for Game 3 on Monday, March 3. Game 4 if necessary is Tuesday, March 4 in Wolfville, while Game 5 if necessary is Thursday, March 6 in Fredericton.
