The Acadia men’s hockey program is excited to welcome Cam Wiebe from the Alberta Golden Bears for the upcoming season.
A 6’2 forward, the Fariview, Alta. native is excited to suit up for the Axemen.
“Being a part of the Axemen family is an excellent opportunity to further develop my skills and take part in the welcoming community that is Wolfville and Acadia University.”
He played 21 games over the past two seasons with the Golden Bears, picking up two goals and six points over that time.
Prior to going to the University of Alberta he played the 2021-22 season the Capital Junior Hockey League with the Beverly Warriors where he scored 10 goals and had 17 assists in 24 games.
Before his junior career, he played with the Grand Prairie Storm U16 and U18 AAA programs.
“We were very excited to be able to bring Cam into the program,” said head coach Darren Burns. “We know he has spent a couple of years in a program that has a lot of tradition and expectations and that’s what we have here at Acadia. You want players who are used to high standards and playing in a place where the program is am important fabric of the school and community. He played in a U Cup and that’s what all teams strive to win. He is a big guy who skates well for his size and this will be a welcome addition to our team. His passion for the game was evident in our first conversation and that’s what any coach wants to hear. Stepping in as a third-year player will also bring experience and leadership to our team.”
Acadia starts on the road this fall with their AUS season opening at UPEI on October 4. Their home opener is October 12 against Dalhousie, which begins a five-game homestand for the Axemen.
