Axemen add proven scorer Zack Corte to forward group
Forward recorded 159 points in 201 OJHL games with Stouffville
The Acadia Axemen hockey program has added another proven scorer to its forward group with the commitment of Scarborough, Ont., native Zack Corte for the upcoming U SPORTS season.
Corte, a 5'10 left-shot forward, joins the Axemen after four productive seasons with the Stouffville Spirit of the Ontario Junior Hockey League. He will study community development at Acadia.
A consistent offensive contributor throughout his junior career, Corte appeared in 201 regular-season games with the Spirit from 2022 to 2026. During that span, he recorded 89 goals and 70 assists for 159 points, establishing himself as one of the club's most reliable offensive threats.
His ability to generate offence and finish scoring chances helped him become a key piece of the Stouffville lineup throughout his career. Corte averaged nearly a point per game over his final two seasons and consistently played in important situations for the Spirit.
Corte also gained valuable playoff experience during his time in the OJHL. Over 17 postseason games, he recorded six goals and five assists. His deepest playoff run came during the 2024-25 season when the Spirit advanced through nine playoff games.
Acadia head coach Darren Burns said Corte's offensive instincts and hockey intelligence will strengthen the Axemen attack.
“Zack has been a very strong offensive player his whole junior career,” said Burns. “His smart hockey sense and release will be a huge addition for us and our program.”
Corte said Acadia stood out because of its reputation both on and off the ice.
“Acadia provides the opportunity to get a great education while continuing to play hockey for one of the best programs in the country,” he said.
“Coach Burns and his staff have built a strong culture both on and off the ice. The tradition of the program, combined with the close-knit community and pride surrounding the team, made a strong impression on me. I'm really excited to experience Wolfville and represent the school and its fans.”
With more than 200 games of junior hockey experience and a proven scoring record, Corte brings offensive production, consistency and experience to an Axemen roster preparing for the 2026-27 season.
