MacAskill becomes fifth generation to attend Acadia, signs with Axemen soccer program
The Acadia Axemen have added midfielder Davin MacAskill to their soccer program for the upcoming season.
MacAskill, a Sackville, N.B., native, joins the Axemen after a standout career with Codiac FC and Tantramar Regional High School. He helped Codiac FC secure a silver medal at the Canada Youth Cup and played a key role in the club’s European tour, where they won bronze at the Lisbon Youth Cup. His contributions included scoring a game-winning goal to advance his team to the semi-finals.
At the high school level, MacAskill captained the Tantramar Titans and was the province’s top goal scorer in the AA division. He was named team MVP for the 2023 season.
“Committing to Acadia will allow me to grow as an athlete in an exciting and competitive environment while pursuing my degree in biology,” said MacAskill. “I am proud to be the fifth generation in my family to go to Acadia, and I can't wait to join the Axemen and pursue my goals on and off the field.”
Axemen head coach Matt Holton welcomed MacAskill to the program, highlighting his passion and strong work ethic.
“We are excited to have added Davin to the Axemen program for this coming fall,” Holton said. “As a fifth-generation Acadia attendee, Davin knows what it means to wear the ‘A,’ and we have no doubt he’ll do so with pride. Davin’s work rate, along with his technical abilities, mean he will be a huge asset for the team.”
MacAskill will study biology at Acadia University while continuing his soccer career.
