Axemen add Aaron John to men's soccer roster
The Acadia Axemen men’s soccer program has bolstered its defensive unit with the addition of left and centre back Aaron John for the upcoming AUS season.
Originally from Black Point, N.S., John brings a wealth of experience, having spent the 2024–25 season in NCAA Division I with Manhattan College in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference. He is a graduate of Bay View High School in Tantallon, where he was team captain and MVP in 2024, and named top defender in 2023.
John also trained with the Vancouver Whitecaps Academy from 2019 to 2022 and is currently a member of Suburban FC’s U17 AAA and senior men’s programs.
“It’s an honour and a privilege to join the Acadia family,” said John. “I’ve known and been coached by Matt [Holton] throughout my youth soccer days, and the vision and project he proposed to me is very exciting. I’m grateful to be a part of it and will give my full dedication and effort to help build a winning culture.”
Head coach Matt Holton, who coached John earlier in his career, said he’s excited to add the local talent to the roster.
“Aaron is a player I have known for a long time, and I am delighted to have him join us at Acadia,” said Holton. “He is a fierce competitor who will come in and immediately increase the quality of the team. I look forward to working with him and seeing him in red this fall.”
John will be enrolled in Acadia’s psychology program.
