Axewomen swimming welcomes Baikie as first commit for 2025-26 season

The Acadia Axewomen swim team has added Halifax backstroke specialist Madelaine Baikie to its 2025-26 roster.

Baikie, who trains with the Halifax Trojans Aquatic Club under coach Chris Cormier, qualified for the 2024 Eastern Canadian Swimming Championships. She was also part of the 2024 David Fry East Coast Swim Championships’ top overall and top female team.

“I am very excited to continue my academic and swimming career at Acadia,” said Baikie. “This team has so much to offer, and I am looking forward to improving myself as a student-athlete and making wonderful memories.”

Baikie will enrol in Acadia’s Bachelor of Psychology program. Her athletic achievements and academic dedication make her a valuable addition to the Axewomen as they prepare for the upcoming season.
