University: Acadia University

Emilie Merilainen of the Acadia Axewomen rugby team is the Subway Atlantic University Sport female athlete of the week for the week ending Oct. 20, 2019.
A third-year outside centre from Batawa, Ont., Merilainen scored the opening try of the game and added two more tries in Acadia's 52-20 win over UPEI in the Subway AUS Rugby Championship semifinal Saturday in Wolfville, N.S.
In addition to leading in scoring, Merilainen played strong defence in the Acadia victory. She was named Subway Player of the Game for her efforts. With the win, the Axewomen advance to face the defending U SPORTS champion StFX X-Women in Saturday's championship final.

Alexandre Goulet of the UNB Reds men's hockey team is the Subway Atlantic University Sport male athlete of the week for the week ending Oct. 20, 2019.
A third-year forward from Disraeli, Que., Goulet scored the Reds' fifth goal of the game and assisted on the game-winning goal in Friday night's 6-3 UNB win over the StFX X-Men.
The Reds downed the Dalhousie Tigers 4-3 Saturday in a shootout. Goulet had two assists in the win and scored a crucial goal for the Reds in the shootout. He was named Subway Player of the Game for his efforts.
