Shaw commits to Axewomen rugby for 2025 season
WOLFVILLE — The Axewomen rugby program has welcomed Gabby Shaw to its roster for the 2025 season.
Shaw, a versatile back-three player from Windsor, N.S., brings a strong record of success and leadership as she prepares to pursue a degree in law and society.
Shaw’s rugby background includes playing for the King’s-Edgehill Highlanders, where she contributed to the team’s 2023 SSNS Division 1 provincial championship and Western Region title. She also represented the Nova Scotia Keltics, winning a gold medal at the 2024 Atlantic championship with the U17 squad and a bronze medal at the 2023 Atlantic championship with the U16 team.
Her club rugby experience includes playing for the Valley Rugby Union in the WD1 League, where she continued to develop her skills and contribute to team success.
“It’s an honour to be joining the Axewomen rugby team,” Shaw said. “The program’s commitment to assisting student-athletes to achieve their absolute maximum potential in both academics and athletics is something that is really important to me. I look forward to the opportunity to put on the Acadia jersey and am committed to representing the program and the school with pride.”
The Axewomen are looking forward to Shaw’s contributions as they prepare for the 2025 season.
