Moncton's Madison Gillis commits to Axewomen rugby
Madison Gillis, an 8-man and prop from Moncton, N.B., has committed to the Acadia Axewomen rugby program for the upcoming season.
Gillis, who stands 5'7, brings extensive experience and success to the Axewomen. With Moncton High School, she earned the backs MVP award in 2024. She has competed provincially with Rugby NB and regionally with the Atlantic Selects, where her team finished second in the Atlantic championship. Gillis also showcased her abilities on the national stage at the Canada U18 camp.
Off the field, Gillis will study law and society at Acadia University.
“The atmosphere the girls create within the team is truly like a family, and I can’t wait to be a part of that,” Gillis said. “Acadia is a very competitive team, and I’m excited to see what challenges it brings. Being part of such a passionate and successful program means becoming part of a community that values hard work and growth. I can’t wait!”
