Blanch brings provincial experience to Axewomen rugby program
WOLFVILLE — Vivienne Blanch, a centre from Amherst, N.S., has committed to the Axewomen rugby program for the upcoming 2025 season.
Blanch, a soon-to-be graduate of Tantramar Regional High School in Sackville, N.B., earned rookie of the year honours in 2023 and MVP backfield in 2024. She also competed with the U17 Spruce Rugby team, where she was named most improved player in 2023. In 2024, Blanch contributed to the Bagtown Bruisers’ undefeated season and their Women’s B League championship win.
Standing at 5'6, Blanch is set to bring speed, strength and vision to the Axewomen. She will study kinesiology at Acadia.
“Committing to Acadia means joining a family that feels like home,” Blanch said. “Wolfville’s small-town spirit reminds me of where I’m from, and the support is incredible. Playing rugby beyond high school has always been my dream, and Acadia is making that a reality. I’m grateful for the chance to be part of this team and can’t wait to give it my all, surrounded by teammates who share my passion and love for this sport!”
Blanch is expected to make an impact both on the field and in the classroom with the Axewomen rugby program.
