Former Youth Commonwealth silver medallist Charlotte Hilton joins Axewomen rugby
Provincial captain and national team player strengthens Axewomen backline
The Acadia Axewomen rugby program has added international experience to its roster with the commitment of Charlotte Hilton of Fall River, N.S.
Hilton, a 5'6 fly half and full back, brings national team pedigree and university experience to Acadia as she enters her second year of eligibility. She will study business.
Hilton previously attended the University of Victoria, where she played during the 2024-25 and 2025-26 seasons. In her first year, she appeared in three of five league games and scored one try. She also competed in two of three sevens tournaments. Her second season was cut short after she suffered a herniated disc injury following the opening three games.
Before her time at UVic, Hilton built an impressive résumé at the provincial and national levels.
She represented Canada at the 2023 Youth Commonwealth Games in Trinidad and Tobago, earning a silver medal with the U18 Canada Sevens team.
In 2025, she competed with Canada’s U20 15s team on a tour of Ireland, facing Ireland’s U22 national development side.
That same year, she captured bronze at the U20 Pan American Games in Paraguay with Canada’s sevens program.
Hilton also competed for Team Nova Scotia’s Keltics program from 2015 to 2021, winning three Atlantic gold medals and one silver. She served as provincial team captain for four consecutive years and was named Rugby Youth Player of the Year in 2024.
She was also invited to the Next Gen 7s Camp in 2026, further underscoring her standing within the national pathway system.
Hilton said she is eager to return home and continue her rugby career at Acadia.
“I am very excited to join the Acadia women’s rugby family,” she said. “I’m really looking forward to bringing my experience to the team.”
Her versatility at fly half and full back, combined with her leadership background and international competition experience, adds depth and maturity to the Axewomen roster.
