Axewomen add Ontario rugby recruit Chii Osawa

The Acadia Axewomen rugby program has added Chii Osawa to its roster.

Osawa, a 5'2 hooker and centre from Sydenham, Ont., joins Acadia from Holy Cross Catholic Secondary School in Kingston, Ont.

She will study kinesiology at Acadia.

“I am thrilled to be committing to Acadia to play varsity rugby,” said Osawa. “After speaking with Coach Durant, I knew Acadia was the right fit for me.

“Choosing Acadia gives me so many incredible opportunities through their strong rugby team, excellent kinesiology program, and supportive student community. I am so grateful to be able to play alongside a family of hardworking athletes and dedicated coaches. Go Axewomen.”

Osawa has played with Holy Cross CSS varsity rugby in the Kingston Area Secondary School Athletic Association since 2022.

She has also played with the Kingston Panthers in both 15s and sevens from 2022 to 2026.

Osawa added international sevens experience in 2025 with the Upright Rugby Rogues. She competed with the tournament team at Tropical 7s in Tampa, Fla., and New York City 7s.

She has also attended several high-performance camps, including the Upright Rugby HP Camp, Queen’s University HP Winter Academy and Summer Camp, and The Rugby Academy.

Osawa is scheduled to graduate from Holy Cross Catholic Secondary School in 2026 before joining the Axewomen in Wolfville.
