Bio

Mike was named Assistant Coach of the Acadia Axewomen rugby program in early 2025, bringing with him a wealth of experience from years of competing and coaching at every level of the game. 

Hamson’s playing career includes time at the club, provincial, Atlantic, and National levels, giving him a strong foundation in high-performance rugby. Since transitioning into coaching, he has worked with athletes across a wide range of programs, including high school, club, and provincial teams, as well as the Atlantic Privateers.

Originally from British Columbia, Hamson has called Nova Scotia home for the past 25 years.  A proud husband and father of two boys, he sees coaching as a chance to contribute to the game that gave him so much.
