Axewomen add Canada Games bronze medalist Adele Workman
Acadia continues to add proven competitors to its future roster with the commitment of Adele Workman, a Halifax, N.S., product who will join the Axewomen soccer program for the 2026 Atlantic University Sport season.
A 5'5 defender and midfielder, Workman will graduate from Citadel High School in 2026 and plans to study kinesiology at Acadia. Her game is defined by versatility, athleticism and a steady presence in high-pressure moments.
At the club level, Workman captained Inter Halifax, earning a reputation as a reliable leader capable of contributing across the pitch. She has also competed on the national stage, representing Nova Scotia at the 2025 Canada Games, where the team captured a bronze medal. Later that year, she helped Inter Halifax earn a fourth-place finish at nationals, gaining valuable experience against elite competition from across the country.
Workman’s ability to transition seamlessly between defensive and midfield roles has been a constant throughout her development. Her physicality, composure on the ball and commitment to team play have allowed her to impact matches in multiple ways.
“I chose Acadia because of its strong academic environment, supportive community, and the opportunity to continue growing both on and off the field,” said Workman. “The team has amazing coaches and a great group of players that I’m really excited to be a part of.”
She said she is eager to join a program that values effort, accountability and connection.
“I’m most excited to step into a competitive, close-knit environment that values character and hard work,” she said.
Head coach Danielle Cyr said Workman’s consistency and leadership qualities align well with the Axewomen culture.
“Adele is a proven leader and competitor with consistent performances on big stages,” said Cyr. “She brings the character, work ethic and competitive drive we value in our program. Adele is a tremendous multisport athlete, and her athleticism and high-performance habits will allow her to excel in AUS soccer. She’s versatile, composed, and brings a team-first mindset. We’re thrilled to welcome her to Acadia.”
