English national team player Anja Erminio joins Axewomen volleyball program
WOLFVILLE, N.S. — The Acadia Axewomen have added outside hitter Anja Erminio to their volleyball program for the upcoming season.
Erminio, originally from London, England, joins Acadia after a decorated club and international career. She has represented the England national team for three years, competing in two CEV U18 championships as a starting outside hitter. In 2024, she helped England finish third at the North European Championships and advance to the next round of the European Championships, competing against Germany, Spain, and Estonia.
At the club level, Erminio played for Richmond Volleyball Club, winning multiple U18 and U16 national championships. She was named MVP at the 2023 U18 National Championships and has also competed internationally at the Cornacchia World Championships in Italy. On the beach, she secured a silver medal at the U20 CEV Beach Championships in 2024 and is a three-time national champion at the U18 and U16 levels.
Axewomen head coach Michelle Wood praised Erminio’s experience and dedication to her craft.
“Anja is an intrinsically motivated student-athlete who seeks out every opportunity in training, through video and coach feedback, to better herself,” said Wood. “Her international experience has accelerated her learning and understanding of what it takes to succeed at the highest levels. Anja’s ball control, experience with fast-paced and high-stakes competition will be an asset to our program.”
Erminio, who attended Cheam High School and Tiffin School in the UK, will study kinesiology at Acadia.
“I loved the community and tight-knit nature of the town and university, especially their love for Acadia athletes at games,” Erminio said. “I met the coaches and team on my visit and loved their dynamic and relationships on and off the court. I can’t wait to soon join the Acadia family.”
Erminio is eager to develop her skills and compete in the Atlantic University Sport (AUS) conference, looking forward to playing in front of Acadia’s passionate supporters.
