Axewomen add key middle in Brianna Bourque for 2024-25 season

The Axewomen continue to build out their roster for the upcoming season with the addition of Brianna Bourque.

A 6’5 middle, she comes to Acadia from her hometown of Moncton and Fuzion Volleyball Club.

“We are thrilled to welcome Bri to our program as a 6'5 coordinated and versatile middle blocker,” said head coach Michelle Wood. “We believe Bri's academic excellence and championship characteristics align with our program's values and culture. She has the physicality to be competitive at the U SPORTS level and will challenge all of our attackers to be better hitters. The combination of middle blockers joining our roster this fall will be exciting to watch.”

With Fuzion she has consistently been part of teams that advance deep into tournaments, always qualifying for the semifinal round and winning one over her last three seasons. As a club player she was also part of the provincial team in 2022. Her provincial level participation continued in 2023 as she was selected for the Provincial Excellence Program (PEP).

With her high school team at Louis-J-Robichaud they lost the provincial championship final, while winning numerous tournaments over her four years with the team. In 2021 she was named most useful player.

Bourque will be studying biology while attending Acadia.

The Axewomen open their season at home on Friday, Oct. 25 when they host the Saint Mary’s Huskies.
