Lemay-Evans leads Axewomen past Memorial in four
ST. JOHN'S, N.L. — Acadia closed its Newfoundland trip with a 3–1 win over Memorial on Saturday afternoon at the Fieldhouse, taking the first, second and fourth sets (25–18, 25–22, 22–25, 25–16).
Alexia Lemay-Evans powered the attack with 14 kills on .333 hitting and 15.0 points. Middle Mia Lemay-Evans added eight kills at .500 with two aces and a team-high six block assists (13.0 points). Outside Jenna Lake finished with 13 kills and 14.5 points, while setter Katie MacLean steered the offence with 39 assists and four digs. As a group, Acadia hit .246 and totaled 14 block assists.
Memorial was led by Courtney Hodder's 12 kills, while Taylar Johnston hit efficiently in the middle and combined on six blocks.
Acadia controlled Set 1 with a late run sparked by the middles, then closed Set 2 on back-to-back kills from Lake and Alexia Lemay-Evans. After the Sea-Hawks took Set 3, the Axewomen responded with a dominant fourth, opening 9–3 and never looking back to secure the match.
