ST. JOHN'S, N.L. — Acadia took the second set but dropped a 3–1 decision to Memorial on Friday night at the Fieldhouse, falling 18–25, 25–22, 13–25, 15–25.
Acadia steadied after a tough opening frame and levelled the match in the second. A late push, sparked by service pressure from Katie MacLean and a pair of kills by Alexia Lemay-Evans, closed out the 25–22 set win. Memorial answered with a fast 7–0 start to the third and controlled the rest of the night.
Lemay-Evans led Acadia with 10 kills. Brianna Bourque added five kills and a solo block, while Charley McDonald chipped in three aces and three kills. MacLean finished with 23 assists, three aces and two kills. For Memorial, Nella Woelfel (16 kills, .609) and Courtney Hodder (16 kills, 10 digs) paced the attack as the Sea-Hawks hit .433 on the night.
Acadia moves on to a quick turnaround in St. John's. The Axewomen face Memorial again on Saturday, Nov. 1, at 12:30 p.m. Atlantic.
